When your liver is bad, these parts start to hurt

The liver plays a critical role in filtering toxins, storing nutrients, and supporting digestion, making it essential for maintaining overall health and balance.

When the liver struggles, one common signal is discomfort or pain in the upper right abdomen, where the organ is located.

This pain may spread to the upper back or shoulder due to nerve connections, sometimes making the source harder to recognize at first.

In more advanced cases, fluid buildup in the abdomen, known as ascites, can cause swelling, bloating, and a heavy or tight feeling.

Liver problems can also show up in less obvious ways, including persistent fatigue, itching on the hands and feet, joint discomfort, or mental fog. These symptoms often develop gradually, making them easy to overlook until they begin affecting daily life and overall well-being.

More visible warning signs include jaundice, dark urine, pale stools, or unusual swelling in the body. Because these symptoms can resemble other conditions, it’s important not to ignore them. Seeking medical advice early can help prevent complications and protect long-term liver health.
